Welcome to the website of the Amsterdam Go Club!
We get many visitors from abroad who don’t speak Dutch and can’t readily understand the rest of our website. Therefore, we have decided to present the most important information about go in Amsterdam in English right here. The page is still under development. In case you have any questions please contact the president of the club and webmaster of this site, Harald Zellerer, at: harald (AT) goinamsterdam (ANTISPAM) nl.
Our club evening is (almost) every Thursday, from around 20:30 hrs. until midnight or a bit later. You are welcome to come and have a look or play a game with us. When you arrive, please ask for Harald, Robert or Leo. We would like to welcome you, explain what is going on and answer all the questions you might have.
We play at “Ons Genoegen”, a club that provides a home to many, very diverse, activities, run by volunteers:
Ons Genoegen (GoOG)
Elandsstraat 44
1016 SG Amsterdam
(site C on the map)
For those of you who visited us before:
we moved to the building opposite our old location (nr. 101) on January 7th, 2010.
In case you are in Amsterdam for the weekend only, you could visit café “2 Klaveren” on Saturday evening around 20:00 hrs. Often you will be able to meet some go players, playing there informally.
Café “2 Klaveren”
De Clercqstraat 136

Every year, during the extended Ascension Day weekend, the Amsterdam Go Club organises the Amsterdam International Go Tournament, which is one of the major six European go tournaments. In 2010 it will take place Thursday, May 13 – Sunday, May 16. For more information (in English) and registration have a look at the special site: http://goinamsterdam.nl/tournaments/amsterdam/.
Every year, at Queen’s Day (April 30), our club “Ons Genoegen” (see above) has an “open day”.
See you soon!
